Rev. Brent Russett

Senior Pastor

Brent grew up on a dairy farm between Arnprior and Renfrew. He remembers committing his life to Christ when he was four years old. He knew ever since he was young that God was calling him to vocational Christian ministry.

At 17, he moved to Edmonton to attend Bible College/Seminary at what was then called North American Baptist Divinity School. While living in Edmonton, he worked three years full time for the Alberta Government, working with juvenile delinquents.

After graduating, Brent became the sole pastor of Bruce Mines Wesleyan Church (about 40 miles east of Sault Ste. Marie.) While there, he met and married his wife Lynda. Brent was ordained in 1987 after serving the church for 2 years. He continued on in Bruce Mines for another three years and then felt a call to Ottawa.

In 1990, Brent became the senior pastor of Sunnyside Wesleyan Church, where he continues to serve. Brent also serves on the Board of Trustees for Houghton College, the District Board of Ministerial Development (the ordination board) and the Servant Leadership Team for Mission Ottawa. In 2003, he graduated from the Arrow Leadership Program.

Brent has two kids, Ethan and Amy. He is passionate about developing others into spiritually mature people. He cares deeply about the unity of the body of Christ. He cares deeply about the community that God has placed him in.
